OUR STORY

Our Story
Scientist turned Textile Designer & Founder
Every motif has a story.
Mine began long before Naksh was born—in the mountains, river valleys, and rock formations of India.
I am Gouri Saha, a scientist turned textile designer and the founder of Naksh The Label. My academic journey led me to IIT Bombay, where I pursued research in Structural Geology. As a geologist, I spent years studying the Earth—reading landscapes, understanding the language of rocks, and creating geological maps that revealed patterns shaped over millions of years.
Those years changed the way I looked at the world. The visual memory of it made me a visual artist (Textile Designer and Photographer). I express through my sketches, designs and photographs.
The graceful curves of rivers, the geometry of cracked earth, the rhythm of mountain ranges, the veins of leaves, the symmetry of flowers and fruits, and the colours of changing seasons became more than observations. They became inspiration.
Designing India, One Motif at a Time
At Naksh The Label, design never begins with trends.
It begins with India.
Every collection is inspired by the stories around us—our landscapes, crafts, festivals, food, architecture, villages, flora, fauna, and everyday moments that make India extraordinary.
A ripe jamun, a humble chilli, the first bloom of mogra, an ancient temple carving, a winding village road, or a forgotten folk tradition can become the inspiration for a collection.
Each motif is thoughtfully illustrated in-house and translated onto textiles using traditional Indian craft techniques.
For us, every print is more than decoration.
It is storytelling.
A Brand Founded by a Woman, Built with Women
Naksh is proudly a women-founded brand.
More importantly, it is a brand built alongside the hands of talented women artisans, tailors, embroiderers, and makers who bring every design to life.
Behind every saree, kurta, dress, or handcrafted textile are skilled craftspeople whose knowledge has been passed down through generations.
As we grow, we remain committed to creating opportunities for women, nurturing artisan livelihoods, and building a business where craftsmanship and dignity go hand in hand.
Empowerment is not a campaign for us.
Reviving India's Living Craft Traditions
India possesses one of the richest textile heritages in the world.
Yet many traditional crafts and rural artisan communities continue to disappear in the face of fast fashion and mass production.
Naksh works with artisan clusters and skilled craftspeople across India to celebrate traditional techniques while presenting them in a contemporary, wearable form.
Our vision is not simply to preserve Indian craftsmanship as history.
It is to ensure it continues to thrive.
Every collection is our small contribution towards keeping India's textile legacy alive for future generations.
Slow Fashion with Purpose
We believe that beautiful clothing should be made thoughtfully.
Every Naksh creation is designed with care, produced in limited quantities, and crafted to be worn and cherished for years—not seasons.
We value quality over quantity, authenticity over trends, and timeless design over disposable fashion.
Because true luxury lies in craftsmanship, not excess.
More Than a Label
From geological maps to hand-drawn motifs.
From understanding the Earth's stories to celebrating India's living heritage.
Every piece we create carries a part of that journey.
A story of curiosity.
A story of craftsmanship.
A story of India.
Welcome to Naksh.
